I took a boat out to the Uros Islands of Lake Titicaca on the border of Peru and Bolivia. The islands are man-made and home to a people that are able to sustain themselves completely from the resources of the lake. On one of the islands, I met a local girl who was around the age of six. As her aunts sung us a farewell, she hopped onto the traditional boat with me, clenching her ice cream snack in her right hand. It was a picture perfect moment.
